University Relations at MSU produced a fascinating video piece (see link below) following the late April spring football game at Spartan Stadium. John Shinsky was an outstanding football player at MSU in the early 70’s (I watched him play) and an Academic All-American as well. We’ve been friends for several years and I’ve helped him the past 18 months or so with PR on a special project you all may have heard about lately in the media. John and friends have received incredible coverage in newspapers, radio, television and social media outlets. Four CommArts students have helped with PR and they have done an outstanding job.
John and two former MSU teammates left Spartan Stadium at halftime of the spring football game on April 25 – heading out on a 2,000 mile bike trip to benefit the orphanage he started in Mexico several years ago. John grew up in an orphanage in the Cleveland area during part of his youth. He is one of the most inspiring people I’ve ever met – and a cancer survivor to top it all off.
